Well my name is Jonathan Barnett but you'll probably find me introducing myself as JB. As there are so many Jo(h)n(athan)s in this world, I got a shortened version of it and it stands out a little bit, and also I don't have to look up everytime I hear Jon! being yelled. So I'm 19 (almost 20) I've taken a year of schooling at the University of Alaska Fairbanks where I got some pre-reqs out of the way. After that I took a year to go down to Cannon Beach, OR where I went to Ecola Bible School, an amazing place where I learned so much and made many friendships that will continue into heaven. This summer I worked as an RM (residential mentor) with Native Alaskan High School students, where I got to live with about 40 students and watch and help them grow accidemically and just as people. I have dreadlocks and have had them for a little more than 2 years. (They were my graduation present from my dad, basically he allowed me to stay in the house with them :D ) I love reading, and having time to just find something to do. I am pretty easy going and love to be outdoors doing some backpacking or just hiking around. I also really enjoy taking drives in the open AK and seeing God's amazing handiwork.
A little bit about my past, I was born Aug 30 1987 in Whittier, CA, a suburb of L.A. I lived there with my parents for 5 years and had my little bro born there before we moved down to New Orleans, LA. I got to grow up for elementary school in an area right outside of downtown New Orleans (and as far as I know is still alive and kickin even after Katrina). In the middle of 6th grade dad said we were gonna move up to South Dakota, being little I didn't have much of a choice or have too much cares about that. So we moved up there during winter break where I got to see snow for the first time ever! Oh man that was beyond magical. Even it was only in clumps in Kansas it was amazing and I knew what having a white christmas would be for the first time. So in South Dakota I grew up making some great friends, becoming a poser-punk skateboarder before hurting myself pretty badly and deciding I would just do the posing instead of actual skateboarding. I met my best friend Lucas at church and we grew up paintballing, having army-men wars, lego wars, and just having fun in whatever we could. We lived in South Dakota until 10th grade when my dad said it was time to move again and we made the adjustment up to Alaska!!! It's a beautiful place and I know that if I ever want to get lost for a year or so, I would do it up here. So I finished high school, but never got to make many real friends from school and most of my Class A friends came from church and the youth group. Most of them are still great people that I keep in contact with and still get to have some chill time with.
